How do I make a gallon of iced tea at home so it tastes like yours?
Normally we make several gallons at a time, but the home formula is as follows:
Bring 1 gallon of water to a full roiling boil. You want to steep your tea in hot water or else the flavor won't fully extract. Hot water helps sugar dissolve as well.
Steep 1 cup of loose leaf tea in the boiling water for about 10 minutes.
Strain the leaves. This is best done with a mesh spoon or pouring the tea through a strainer or cheesecloth into a pitcher.
Be sure to not pour boiling water straight into a glass pitcher or it may crack! You can add some cool water into the pitcher beforehand to avoid cracking or breaking your pitchers.
Add 1-1.5 heaping cups of sugar! (Except if you are making Berry-Berry. No sugar is required for Berry-Berry)
Stir and Enjoy!
